[Emergent strategies in interventional cardiology].

چکیده
Despite the advances in the treatment of patients with coronary artery disease, sudden cardiac death is still unacceptably prevalent. Patients with ischemic heart disease usually require a combination of therapies (drugs and coronary intervention) and may continue to experience symptoms. Recently, numerous percutaneous interventional treatments and diagnostic tools have been developed to diagnose the vulnerable plaque and to treat the large number of patients with myocardial ischemia. Ongoing research on the use of drug eluting stents, catheter based bypass graft (percutaneous approaches that use the adjacent venous circulation to bypass an obstructed artery and stent-based approach for ventricle to coronary artery bypass), therapeutic angiogenesis and myogenesis, and the catheter based devices to detect the plaque vulnerability and composition (lipid-rich atheromatous core, thin fibrous cap, and expansive vessel remodeling) may result in additional diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients with coronary artery disease.

Radiation-Induced Noncancer Risks in Interventional Cardiology: Optimisation of Procedures and Staff and Patient Dose Reduction
Concerns about ionizing radiation during interventional cardiology have been increased in recent years as a result of rapid growth in interventional procedure volumes and the high radiation doses associated with some procedures. Noncancer radiation risks to cardiologists and medical staff in terms of radiation-induced cataracts and skin injuries for patients appear clear potential consequences ...
متن کاملUnmet needs of young interventional cardiologists: proceedings from the 2nd summit of the European association of percutaneous cardiovascular interventions.
Every year, the EAPCI Board invites presidents and representatives of the interventional working groups affiliated to EAPCI to discuss issues and strategies surrounding the goals of education and advanced healthcare practices in interventional cardiology. In 2013, the 2nd EAPCI Summit, organised by the EAPCI Board in collaboration with the NIFYI committee, was entirely dedicated to discussing t...
متن کاملReduction of Radiation Risk to Interventional Cardiologists and Patients during Angiography and Coronary Angioplasty
Radiation risk allied to invasive cardiology is relatively high, and protecting both patients and cardiologists is necessary. The aim of this review is to discuss how to better protect patients and cardiologists against radiation exposure. We performed a global search on PubMed, Science Direct, and Scopus databases via keywords of "interventional cardiologist", "patient", "radiation", and "expo...
متن کاملEvaluation of Maximum Patient Skin Dose Arising from Interventional Cardiology Using Thermoluminescence Dosimeter in Mashhad, Iran
Introduction The increasing practice of interventional fluoroscopy in diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease has risen attention to improve radiation protection of patients and cardiologists in these relatively high dose techniques. Therefore, nowadays there is an emphasis on the measurement of radiation dose received by patients and cardiologists arising from the relevant procedures...
متن کاملAre Radiation Exposure Levels Used in Cardiology Dangerous?
Background: The number of interventional cardiology procedures performed has increased rapidly over the past years. While these procedures help physicians avoid using highly complicated invasive methods, it usually leads to high levels of exposure to ionizing radiation of both patients and cardiologist. The dose received by the cardiologist during interventional cardiology procedures is determi...
